New Nazareth Schools president to take helm Jan. 1

Sister Patricia Carroll, previously assistant superintendent for governmental services and administration for the Diocese of Rochester’s Department of Catholic Schools, will become president and CEO of the Nazareth Schools Jan. 1, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Rochester announced Dec. 23.

Nazareth Schools, which are independent Catholic schools owned and operated by the Sisters of St. Joseph, comprise Nazareth Hall Elementary School, which serves boys and girls in prekindergarten through fourth grades; Nazareth Hall Middle School, which serves boys and girls in grades 5 to 8; and Nazareth Academy, which serves girls in grades 9 to 12.

Sister Carroll is a Nazareth Academy graduate, and has been a teacher and a school administrator. She replaces Sister Ann Collins, who is retiring on Dec. 31. During Sister Collins’ 22-year tenure, she has served as principal of Nazareth Academy and founding president of the Nazareth Schools.

The congregation also announced Dec. 23 that Sister Janice Morgan will begin serving as director of the Sisters of St. Joseph Educational Endeavors, which includes the Nazareth Schools. Sister Morgan, who most recently served as the diocese’s interim superintendent of schools, also was previously congregational president of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Rochester.
