The Church authority has designated the first Sunday after Easter as “Divine Mercy Sunday.” Every year there is devoted acclamation of this significant feast as Catholic congregations around the world celebrate in various ways, beginning with a nine day novena on Good Friday. Parishes highlight this special day with particular prayers, Eucharistic Adoration and/or Benediction. Great numbers of people have been discovering and have reported amazing blessings and healings happening through the powerfully effective Divine Mercy chaplet prayed daily.
Regrettably, again this year, there were no special devotions scheduled in our churches. There was not even mention of this feast which was especially designated by Pope John Paul II to inspire and encourage hope and trust in the infinite mercy of God, so desperately needed in the world today.
