To the editor:
The complicity of Catholics in the recent election of pro-abortion extremist, Barack Obama, will no doubt increase the rate of abortion.
According to the Catholic TV network, EWTN, over 50 percent of Catholics ignored Church teaching and voted in an anti-life president.
How often we hear the term “discipleship” from the pulpit but rarely any advice to support pro-life candidates for public office. The term discipleship requires a Catholic to follow Church teaching by not supporting a pro-abortion candidate for public office.
Inasmuch as abortion is by far the most important human life issue, there is no excuse to vote for a pro-abortion candidate because he or she is OK on some other human life issue.
It’s hard enough fighting the “choice” people outside our Church but dealing with the “choicers” within our Church will required considerably more effort by pro-life Catholics.
