Elmira Notre Dame High School‘s choir, under the direction of Krista Easton, performed with the National Youth Choir at Carnegie Hall in New York City March 18.
The National Youth Choir comprises choral students from many schools and was under the direction of Anton Armstrong, world-renowned conductor of the St. Olaf Choir, a premiere a cappella choir of Northfield, Minn. The musical selections performed at the concert included “Non Nobis Domine,” “Amazing Grace,” “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor,” “Mayim,” “Weep No More,” “Pieu Jesus” and “Beautiful City.”
Elmira Notre Dame’s choir was invited for perform with the National Youth Choir for three consecutive years after earning qualifying gold-rating scores at the Washington, D.C., and Boston Heritage Festivals in 2015 and 2016.
The choir will perform its spring concert May 30 at 7 p.m at Notre Dame High School. The concert is free and open to the public.
