To the editor:
We want to express our gratitude to Bishop Clark for the very moving column he wrote for the Catholic Courier on November 12/13, 2005. The sensitivity to issues surrounding the life and service of homosexual clergy is a welcome expression at this difficult time in our Church. The clarity about the generosity that Bishop Clark perceives in the priests whom he knows, their unselfish service in the Church and their deeply faithful witness to the calling of ministry speaks of our appreciation of the breadth and inclusive nature of our church.
There are chaste, homosexual priests and other gay men and women of many faith traditions who serve selflessly in ministry to others within our community. We value their commitments and we appreciate them and their gifts.
