An open forum to discuss the opioid epidemic is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the parish center of St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave., Greece.
Guest speakers will include Patrick Phelan, chief of police for the Town of Greece; and Shawn James, an addictions therapist from Villa of Hope, an organization in Greece that assists troubled teens. The panelists will explain the opioid crisis and what is being done about it, and answer questions from the audience. Following the forum, a training demonstration will be given for administering naloxone, a drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
