Our Catholic schools ‘teach it all’

Catholic schools throughout our diocese are joining with others across the nation in celebrating Catholic Schools Week. We hope you will enjoy this special coverage of the schools in the Catholic Courier and, if your children are not already enrolled, consider making a Catholic-school education the gift of a lifetime to them.

For those of you who are interested and wish to learn more about our schools, we invite you to make Catholic Schools Week a reason to find out more. There are activities scheduled throughout the week that highlight the many positives our schools offer. All of our schools will host open houses on Wednesday, Feb. 8, providing you an opportunity to see for yourselves our Spirit-filled classrooms, state-of-the-art technology, security and wonderfully devoted teachers, administrators and staff.

In our classrooms, from our full-time kindergartens on, children master the skills they need to do well in our society and continually delight their parents with their progress; our students consistently rank above the state average in language arts and math, for example. This standard of excellence is a hallmark of a Catholic-school education, which leads not only to superior performance but greater levels of college graduation for Catholic-school students as compared to averages for public-school counterparts.

But that is not all: They also are immersed in the teachings of our great Roman Catholic faith. They learn about God’s enduring love and are taught religious values that will guide them for the rest of their lives.

That’s what we mean when we say, “We teach it all.”

None of this would be possible without our dedicated teachers, administrators and staff — and the parents and guardians who have chosen Catholic schools for their children and partner with our schools to ensure each child reaches his or her potential. They have made an investment in their children’s future that will serve these young people throughout their lifetime and will make a difference in our world as well.

We are confident that you will like what you see!

May God continue to bless you and your families.
