The Auburn Rotary Club recently established a scholarship in memory of a former member of St. Mary Parish in Auburn.
Starting this spring, the Joseph A. Daloia Sr. Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to two students who are pursuing degrees in the arts and sciences. Daloia, who passed away in June 2010, was a World War II veteran and a past president of the Auburn Rotary Club. He also was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 207 and was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America in Cayuga County. He also served as Auburn’s superintendent of water and wastewater plant operations for the City of Auburn.
The Auburn Rotary Club will hold a pancake breakfast Feb. 13 from 8 a.m. until noon, and proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the scholarship. Tickets may be purchased for $7 for adults and $5 for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Children under 5 may eat for free, and the breakfast will be held at the Knights of Columbus Council 207 headquarters at 47 Market St., Auburn.
Those interested in contributing to the scholarship may send donations to the Auburn Rotary Club, PO Box 446, Auburn, NY 13021.
