Elmira’s St. Casimir/St. Charles Borromeo Parish is hosting a parish mission March 6-10.
The mission’s theme is “Back to the Basics for the Love of God.” Guest priest is Father Frank Fusare, an Elmira native and a former Rochester diocesan priest who now belongs to the Fathers of Mercy order. The congregation, based in South Union, Ky., has specialized in preaching for nearly 200 years. According to its Web site, the order’s “primary apostolate is to preach parish missions and retreats, with an emphasis on the sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Confession.”
Father Fusare will preach, celebrate daily Mass at 7 a.m., and follow with confessions at St. Casimir’s Church, 1004 Davis St. He will also speak each evening at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 130 Oakwood Ave., beginning at 6 p.m. on March 6 and at 7 p.m. each subsequent night.
