St. Kateri Parish in Irondequoit will lead a bike pilgrimage in May to the shrine of its patron saint in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the parish’s creation.
The pilgrimage from May 28-31 will follow 210 miles along the Erie Canal trail to Fonda, where St. Kateri was born and first learned about Jesus from Jesuit missionaries, according to information from Basilian Father Morgan Rice, the parish’s parochial vicar.
A support vehicle will follow the bikers in case anyone experiences physical challenges. Overnight stays at hotels and stops at parishes along the route also are planned. Upon arrival at the shrine, a Mass will be celebrated.
