Parish thrives amid change

To the editor:

Thanks be to God! Our Mother of Sorrows Church in Greece, of which I’m a parishioner, is rallying back from losing two priests and two deacons in a period of six months. We are blessed to have the likeable Father Paul Tomasso as Parochial Administrator and our new deacon, Edward Giblin, who will have arrived by the time this Courier goes to press.

We welcome them to our parish. I’m sure they’ll find our parish to be a welcoming faith community that is proud of its rich heritage on Paddy Hill. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and through the intercession of our blessed Mother Mary, we live and share Christ’s Gospel message through the joyful celebration of the sacraments, commitment to stewardship and general service to each other and the world in which we live.

We must not neglect our heartfelt thanks to Sister Leandra Kosmoski, SSJ, Pastoral Associate, whose tireless work kept our parish going strong until our new arrivals were assigned to us. We also thank our retired priests in residence, Fathers Winfried Kellner and Edwin Metzger, who were called upon to do double duty when needed.

We invite new visitors. Share with us the celebration of the Mass. See the unique and respectful way the Book of Gospels is processed to the steps of the sanctuary before the start of Mass. It reminds me of Mark 10:14: "Let the little children come to me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
