Parishes collect for farm workers

Parishes in Cayuga and Tompkins counties have once again started collecting goods for the Migrant Farmworker Project, an annual social-ministry project of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community in southern Cayuga County.

Each year parishes involved with the project collect nonperishable food, health and beauty supplies, and used household and clothing items. These items are then distributed to migrant farm workers staying at a camp in King Ferry.

Other items needed at the migrant camp include sheets, blankets, comforters, towels, washcloths, pots, pans, utensils, rosary beads, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, aspirin, Tylenol, Tums, men’s work boots, and men’s and women’s sweatshirts, jeans, T-shirts, thermal underwear and fall jackets in large and extra-large sizes.

Donated items may be dropped off at Patrick’s Electric, 150 York St., Auburn. For more information, contact Debbie Patrick at 315/497-2049 or 315/252-5269.
