Parishes set March 8 Lenten penance service

St. John the Evangelist Parish, 114 Sodus St., Clyde, will host a Lenten penance service for the parishes of eastern Wayne County March 8 at 7 p.m. The service will include prayer, hymns, readings and an examination of conscience.

Father William Darling, parochial administrator at St. Michael’s Parish in Lyons; Father George Heyman, pastor of the Catholic Community of the Blessed Trinity; Father Jim Hewes, pastor of St. John’s and St. Patrick’s Parish in Savannah; and Father Jim Fennessy, priest intern of the Roman Catholic Community of Geneva will be available for individual confessions.

This is the first time the parishes have come together for such a service, according to Sister of St. Joseph Catherine Gibbons, faith-formation coordinator at St. John’s, St. Patrick’s and St. Michael’s.
