Parishes set to host Alive in Christ classes

Scott Rutan, director of adult and family faith formation at St. Patrick Parish in Victor, will give a presentation on the sacrament of reconciliation May 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. John School in Clyde.

The event is one of two Alive in Christ catechist-formation sessions designed to help catechists, Catholic-school teachers and children’s liturgy of the word leaders obtain the certification they need to minister in their parishes and schools. Both presentations also are open to any interested adults, said Sister of St. Joseph Catherine Gibbons, faith-formation coordinator for St. John the Evangelist Parish in Clyde, St. Patrick Parish in Savannah and St. Michael Parish in Lyons.

Patricia Lawlor, faith-formation director for Rochester’s Winton-Culver Catholic Community, will give the second presentation, which will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. June 18 at St. Michael’s church hall. Lawlor’s presentation will focus on “Scripture and Storytelling.”

There is a $10 fee for each session, and interested adults must register at least a week before each session. Both sessions are sponsored by St. John, St. Patrick and St. Michael parishes.
