Dr. Bill Cook, a professor at SUNY Geneseo, will give a presentation about St. Benedict at St. John’s School in Clyde at 6 p.m. Sept. 11.
Cook’s presentation will be the first in this year’s Family Education Program, which is sponsored by St. John’s Parish in Clyde and St. Patrick’s Parish in Savannah. There will be a presentation each month through April, and the other eight presenters include Jann Armantrout, diocesan life-issues coordinator; Dr. Muhammad Shafiq, imam at the Islamic Center of Rochester; and Dr. Joe Kelly, professor of Hebrew Scriptures at St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry in Pittsford.
“It is (our) hope that people can begin to connect what happens in church with their life outside the church,” said Father James Hewes, pastor. He noted that he has asked each speaker to somehow relate the topic he or she is speaking about to the Sunday readings at the time of the presentation.
