Parishes and individuals are invited to take part in Life Chain, a prayerful initiative for the end of abortion, that will take place at two Chemung County locations on Sunday, Oct. 5.
One Life Chain will be at the corner of Church and Walnut streets in Elmira, and the other is set for the corner of Grand Central Avenue and 14th Street in Elmira Heights. Both will run from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants are asked to show up at least 30 minutes early. The events will be held rain or shine, and families are encouraged to attend.
Life Chain is an annual observance held nationally the first Sunday of each October. Participants are asked to stand for one hour along major roadways, praying silently and holding such signs as "Abortion Kills Children"; "Adoption, the Loving Option"; "Jesus Forgives and Heals"; "Lord, Forgive Us and Our Nation"; "Abortion Hurts Women"; "Life — the First Inalienable Right"; and "Pray to End Abortion."
