Pastors, pastoral and campus administrators, parish staff and pastoral council and planning-group members are invited to attend the fifth annual diocesan Pastoral Planning Leaders Day, which will take place March 12 at Keuka College.
Through the morning’s keynote presentation, Father Patrick Van Durme, pastor of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Hornell, and Charlotte Bruney, pastoral administrator at St. Vincent DePaul Parish in Churchville, will reflect on the theological and spiritual changes within the diocese.
Participants will be able to attend one of nine different workshops offered. The workshops cover topics such as the role of pastoral and finance councils; healthy ways to handle pastoral-leadership transitions; creating inclusive and diverse parish communities; mission-driven faith communities and leaders; understanding and planning for the dynamics of change; meeting the challenge of inculturation; forming clusters and consolidated parishes; calling forth and supporting young-adult leadership; and marking changes through rituals.
Participants will also be able to network with those from other parishes and clusters or take part in a think tank for new parish and planning-group initiatives. Bishop Matthew H. Clark will be present for an interchange after the lunch hour.
