All are invited to attend a gathering of Pax Christi Upstate New York scheduled for Sept. 8-9. It will take place at Panasci Chapel Center on the campus of LeMoyne College in Syracuse.
The event will open on Friday evening with a young-adult caucus from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by folk dancing and refreshments, then prayer and reflection. Saturday activities begin with a gathering prayer at 9 a.m. Ensuing workshops will consider such topics as peacemaking and the arts; solidarity with Africa in crisis; global restoration; conscientious objection and young adults; creative peacemaking; and racism. The gathering includes lunch and will end at 3 p.m. with celebration of the Eucharist.
Nancy Small, Pax Christi USA Ambassador of Peace and past national coordinator of PCUSA, is the weekend’s primary resource person. Workshop facilitators include Peggy Rosenthal, Rochester author and activist; Paul Frazier of the Syracuse Selective Service Education Project; Margaret Wehrer, a member of the PCUSA Anti-Racism Team; the PeaceWeaver Community of Bath; the St. Patrick’s Day Four of the Ithaca Catholic Worker Community; and Gabriel Bolding, Darius Makuja and Charles Oduke, African members of the LeMoyne college community.
