Several peace-related events are taking place in September in Tompkins County.
St. Catherine of Siena Church, Ithaca, is hosting its annual International Peace Festival Sept. 14-15. This family-friendly event will run from 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, with Masses at 3 p.m Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Other highlights will be live music and performances, arts-and-craft vendors, silent auction, an "Elegant White Elephant Sale," international food and children’s activities. St. Catherine also will be the site for the annual Peace Mass on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. All eight of Tompkins’ Catholic faith communities will be represented at the liturgy, which is being held in conjunction with the International Day of Peace.
In addition, a Living Rosary will take place Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium of Immaculate Conception School, Ithaca. The weekend’s final event, set for Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at All Saints Church in Lansing, will be a group reflection on the connection between peace and care for the environment. A pizza supper will be served.
