Are you looking for something to do before digging into your turkey on Thanksgiving Day?
St. Michael School in Penn Yan will conduct its 10th Annual 5K Turkey Trot and Kids’ Fun Run on Nov. 25, which is Thanksgiving Day.
The race, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., will start and finish in front of St. Michael School, located at 214 Keuka St. The 3.1-mile course is certified by USA Track and Field and covers flat terrain through town. The Kids’ Fun Run will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m. After both races have finished, awards will be presented to the top overall male and female 5K finishers, as well as the top 5K finishers for each age group and all the Kids’ Fun Run finishers. Food and water will be provided after the race, and the first 100 participants to register will receive a free race T-shirt.
This year marks a return to an in-person road race, as concerns about COVID-19 forced organizers to transition the 2020 Turkey Trot to a virtual event. However, organizers are offering a virtual component to this year’s event as well. Virtual Turkey Trot participants may run 3.1 miles wherever they happen to be any time between Nov. 21 at 6 a.m. and Nov. 25 at 10 a.m.
There is a $25 registration fee for both the in-person and virtual 5K races and a $5 registration fee for the Kids’ Fun Run. Runners may register for the virtual Turkey Trot online by Nov. 25. Runners also may register for both the in-person Turkey Trot as well as the Kids’ Fun Run online by Nov. 22. There will be an opportunity for runners to register in person before the race, starting at 7 a.m.
All proceeds from the run will benefit St. Michael School.
