Pope Benedict XVI was laid to rest Jan. 5 following a funeral on the steps of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Pope Francis presided over the Mass, after which Pope Benedict’s body was buried in the crypt of St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.
