Bishop Salvatore R. Matano will visit the Finger Lakes region Aug. 14 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Prattsburgh’s St. Patrick Church, which is one of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish’s four worship sites.
During his visit Bishop Matano will bless the church building, which was built by Irish Catholics in 1866. Organizers of the anniversary celebration are anticipating a large turnout, so the anniversary Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. at nearby Prattsburgh Central School rather than in the church. The school is located at 2 Naples Hill Road in Prattsburgh and also will host a reception after the Mass.
