Pray the rosary for world’s ills

To the editor:

Lately, we read about violence and tragedy. The Iraq war, Middle East conflicts, violence in Europe, starvation, natural disasters, accidents, crime in the streets, euthanasia, and abortion. Can anything be done? We cannot prevent death. What about war, starvation, crime, euthanasia and abortion?

In 1917, Our Blessed Mother appeared to the child, Lucia, at Fatima with the message: “I am the Lady of the Rosary; I have come to warn the faithful to amend their lives and ask for pardon for their sins. They must not offend Our Lord any more, for He is already too grievously offended by the sins of men. People must say the rosary. Let them continue saying it everyday.”

Our country was founded on the basis of religious freedom. As early as 1864, there was approval for the words, “In God We Trust”, to be on coins. However, we have taken God out of our offices, public buildings, meetings, schools and maybe even our homes. We need to welcome God back, to trust in God and to beg God for help. Prayer is the answer, may God bless us all.
