Care Net Pregnancy Care Center of the Finger Lakes recently changed its name to the Family Hope Center.
The center, located at 551 Exchange St. in Geneva, provides abortion alternatives to women and their families, including free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, parenting classes, support for pregnant women who choose adoption and referrals to other services. The center’s new name was chosen from several suggestions that had been made by people who utilize the center’s services, according to Doreen Teed, executive director of the center.
“The new name change reflects the heart of our ministry and direction of the center over the past several years. We have a desire to minister and serve the entire family … no matter where they are in their life’s journey,” Teed said.
The center’s parenting classes have become increasingly popular among both men and women in recent years, and after each class participating parents are offered such material support as diapers, wipes or children’s clothing.
