Site work has begun for construction of a new church building on the campus of St. Pius Tenth Parish in Chili.
A fire in January 2015 destroyed the former church building on Chili Avenue. Due to extensive structural damage, the building had to be razed and rebuilt. Parish and diocesan officials have been working since April 2015 on plans for rebuilding the church. Officials say their goal continues to be for parishioners to celebrate Christmas in their new church home.
“Actually seeing the heavy construction equipment on site and doing work and seeing stakes in the ground, the excitement is really building now,” said Bill Gustafson, chairman of the parish council.
