Priest made heroic effort

To the editor:

Hundreds of local Catholics had the honor of attending an Oct. 26 banquet at The Party House, featuring Father Benedict Groeschel . The event was a fundraiser for the Women’s Care Center and the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. The fact that Father Groeschel is even alive after surviving a serious car accident two years ago is a miracle.

Attendees were amazed to watch Father Groeschel preach with tremendous enthusiasm, despite being severely hunched over in a sofa and hardly able to stand. Father’s physical afflictions had not dampened his great love for God and the Catholic Faith. Instead of retiring or going into a nursing home, Father is completely dedicated to traveling throughout the United States and Europe, proclaiming the Good News.

It was inspiring to see Father courageously carry his heavy cross with such a positive attitude. At a time when we’ve grown weary hearing about scandals in the Church, we must also remember there are heroes such as Father Benedict Groeschel.
