Professor Joshua Dubler, assistant professor of religion at the University of Rochester’s Department of Religion and Classics, will share insights from his new book, Down in the Chapel: Religious Life in an American Prison, during a talk at 7 p.m. April 9 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 26 Mendon-Ionia Road, Mendon.
The book focuses on research that he conducted during a year and a half spent visiting the chapel at Pennsylvania State Correctional Institute at Graterford, which is a maximum-security prison. His research focused on religious and ethical challenges faced by a sample of prisoners, most who were serving life sentences without parole.
