On Sept. 22 from 1 to 4:30 p.m., St. John of Rochester Church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, will host “Dealing with the Hidden Consequences of War.” The program is meant to assist pastoral leaders and family members in understanding how the trauma of war affects veterans, family members and community members.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. A. Peter Ziarnowski, coordinator of the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Program at the Canandaigua Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mary Anne Vitticore, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and counselor Less Felhazy will offer workshops to help pastoral leaders and family members.
Participants are invited to make a donation to benefit the Office of Veterans Affairs and the ministry of the Greater Rochester Community of Churches, which is sponsoring the event. GRCC is an ecumenical organization to which the Diocese of Rochester belongs.
To register for the event, call GRCC at 585/254-2570 or e-mail grcc1@frontiernet.net and include the words “hidden consequences” in the subject line.
