Proposal is no surprise

To the editor:

Gov. Eliot Spitzer has proposed his “Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act” (see the Courier’s June issue), which is certainly no surprise to those of us who voted against him in November, 2006. We were well aware of what he stands for. The objections of the New York State Catholic Conference to the governor’s proposal seem to come a bit too late. One wonders how effective they will be.

One also must wonder how many New York state Catholics voted for Eliot Spitzer last November. The “Slippery Slope” about which we have been warned for more than 30 years, is here. The time for eliminating abortion and all its anti-life related legislation is on election day!
