Providence project has ribbon cutting

Officials at Providence Housing Development Corporation recently participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Shortsville Meadows, a new, 20-unit affordable-rental project. Providence partnered with Rochester’s Cornerstone Group, Ltd. and T.R.A. Development, Ltd to build the development with funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal.

“The community in Shortsville has been wonderful,” said Jane Lange, deputy director of Providence. Both the mayor of Shortsville and town supervisor of Manchester have been welcoming and supportive of the development, she said.

The apartments are for families and senior citizens whose incomes are less than 50 percent of the average median income for the area. Six units are still available, but there is a waiting list, Lange said.
