To the editor,
It’s the Lenten season, and I should have a stronger purpose of amendment to overcome my episodic judgmentalism, but I cringe when I hear my fellow Catholics use the term "those people."
"Those people" is a euphemism for minorities, for inner city residents, for liberals or other groups who are viewed as missing common sense, independence, moral fiber or love of the country.
The cross is a symbol of salvation for all God’s family. While He was with us, Jesus was the champion of the marginalized. What has happened to us that we have split up The Kingdom between us and "those people?"
