To the editor:
As noted in the December Courier the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Baltimore voted nearly $190 million to fund their work. It also noted that the bishops’ meeting took no actions on immigration, poverty, or any other public policy issues.
Perhaps this parish funded conference could operate on less money for 2015. Maybe $50 million might be more appropriate. Many books, guidelines, and endorsements for sainthood seem possible with this lower amount.
To make matters worse the bishops want a 3% increase for 2016 with no budget written for that period.
