To the editor:
I read the Catholic Courier on a regular basis. I refer to the (e-News) issue of Dec. 30, 2019. The Catholic Courier shared that the National Catholic Reporter selected Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi as its Catholic newsmaker of the year in its Dec. 20 issue. I find it incredulous that those in authority at ANY Catholic newspaper would bring honor and recognition to a person whose public policy on abortion is diametrically opposed to the views of the Catholic Church.

Such selections typically reflect the impact — potentially positive or negative — newsmakers had on society during the year.
