The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will be held at several Southern Tier sites.
This event involves continuous overnight walking around a track by teams that have raised funds to support the fight against cancer. It begins with a survivors’ walk; later in the evening, those who have died of cancer or are survivors are honored with luminaries. The candles line the track and are left lit throughout the night. Caregivers are also recognized.
Relays for Life will take place on the following dates in the Southern Tier: June 3-4, Elmira; June 3-4, Dansville; June 17-18, Corning/Painted Post; July 8-9, Bath; July 8-9, Ithaca; July 22-23, Owego; and Aug. 19-20, Hornell.
