Remembering a dear friend

Amy Kotlarz

Our tight-knit Courier family lost one of its dear members at the very end of this past year.

Randy Phillips Apodaca, an advertising representative for El Mensajero Católico and the Catholic Courier, died suddenly Dec. 29, 2014.

Randy’s extended family lives in Denver, Colo., so burial and services will take place out there.

Many are just finding out and expressing the shock we all felt at hearing the news.

If our stature is measured in how much people miss us when we are no longer there, then Randy is a giant.

Without him, our office is less flavorful; less playful. An example is the favorite story a coworker told of taking a road trip with Randy to a conference. She reported that while on the road, he danced to the music the entire length of the trip. His smile was infectious.

To know Randy was to know how much he loved his three children. At work, rather than talking about himself, Randy talked about his children and how they were growing up. It was clear that he was proud of them.

Our thoughts and prayers have been with Randy, and his family. We hope you will join us in a prayer for his eternal rest.
