Members of the Diocese of Rochester will have numerous opportunities to visit the newly renovated Sacred Heart Cathedral for special events scheduled throughout 2005.
“We want to provide lots of opportunities, beside the initial liturgy, for people to come and celebrate the restored cathedral,” said Charlotte Bruney, who co-chaired the prayer and worship subcommittee of the Cathedral Renovation Committee.
The following events have been scheduled at the cathedral, which is located at 296 Flower City Park in Rochester.
Tuesday, March 22: Chrism Mass at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, March 24, to Saturday, March 26: Holy Week Triduum.
April 13 & 20, May 4, 9, 11, 17 & 25, June 1 & 4: Diocesan confirmations.
Regional Family Pilgrimages on Sundays: 2 p.m. tour and a 3 p.m. prayer service; followed by a reception in narthex. Invitations will be extended to parishes by individual regions in the diocese: April 10: Genesee Valley; April 24: Monroe County; May 15: Southern Tier; May 22: Finger Lakes.
Saturday, May 21: Deaconal ordination, 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, June 4: Priesthood ordination, 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, June 22: Solemn Evening Prayer on feast of St. John Fisher.
Sunday, Oct. 16: Anniversary Mass for the Nocturnal Adoration Society, 2 p.m.
October 21-23: Diocesan Children’s Choir Festival; concert in the cathedral at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.
