Rochestarians vote, honor local Catholic parishes, schools

Several Catholic parishes and schools recently were honored in the 2022 Rochester Official Community Choice Awards.

Sponsored by the Democrat and Chronicle, these awards honor local businesses and other institutions in a wide variety of categories. Members of the public nominate the businesses and institutions then vote online for their favorite contestants.

Seton Catholic School in Brighton took top honors for best preschool, and St. Lawrence School in Greece was one of the top three finalists in that category. Aquinas Institute in Rochester earned the top prize in the private-school category, with Seton and St. Lawrence rounding out the remaining top-three finalists in the private-school category. Aquinas also took top honors in the category for learning and tutoring centers.

St. Charles Borromeo and St. John the Evangelist parishes, both in Greece, were among the top three finalists in the category for places of worship, and St. John Fisher University in Pittsford was among the top three finalists in the category for colleges and universities.
