Rochester church plans many events to celebrate 175 years

Rochester’s Immaculate Conception Church will kick off the celebration of its 175th anniversary by celebrating an opening Mass with Bishop Salvatore R. Matano.

The Mass will take place at 9 a.m. April 7 at the church, 445 Frederick Douglass St.

The church will be hosting a variety of anniversary events each month through Dec. 8, the feast of the Immaculate Conception. At 9 a.m. that day, a closing Mass will be celebrated with Father Norman Fischer, who is of Black and Filipino heritage.
