After being cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Marriage Recognition Mass sponsored by the Diocese of Rochester is returning in 2021.
The Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 29 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester.
All married couples are welcome to attend and renew their vows with Bishop Salvatore R. Matano. Those celebrating milestone jubilees will be given special recognition.
Those wishing to attend must register online at https://conta.cc/3vjYs7x. Those who are having trouble registering online may contact Donald Smith, coordinator of sacramental catechesis and family life, at 585-328-3228, ext. 1243, or at donald.smith@dor.org. The diocese will follow all local, state and CDC guidelines associated with COVID-19 and details will be emailed to registrants prior to the celebration.
The Catholic Courier will livestream the Mass at www.Catholic Courier.com and youtube.com/catholiccourier for those unable to join the celebration.
The Courier also will publish in its September issue a listing of couples who are celebrating 25, 50 or 50-plus years of marriage during 2021. To be included in the list, email Weddings@CatholicCourier.com.
Please include the full names of husband and wife; the date of the wedding; the church and city where married; and a telephone number in case clarification is needed. Due to the anticipated volume of listing requests, we will not be able to follow up or publish submissions that do not include all requested details.
Continuous-tone (unscreened) wedding photos may be submitted for possible publication. For digital submissions, please send image files of at least 1 MB in size.
Deadline for all submissions to the Courier is July 30.
