Rochester Diocese’s 2024 Mass for married couples is April 28

The Diocese of Rochester’s annual Marriage Recognition Mass is taking place a month earlier than usual and at a new time this year.

Married couples will be celebrated during the April 28 11:15 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester. In past years, the Marriage Recognition Mass took place on an afternoon in May.

All married couples and their guests are welcome to attend the Mass and renew their vows with Bishop Salvatore R. Matano. Couples celebrating milestone jubilees this year will be given special recognition during the Mass.

Those wishing to attend are encouraged to register online at or by emailing Donald Smith, coordinator of sacramental catechesis and family life, at

The online registration form for the Mass includes an option to provide wedding details to be incorporated into a list of 2024 milestone wedding anniversaries scheduled for publication in the Catholic Courier’s June print edition and on its website. Only those couples celebrating 25, 50 and 50-plus years of marriage in 2024 will be included in the list.

Couples who cannot attend the April 28 liturgy may submit their information directly to the newspaper by emailing or via postal mail addressed to: Wedding Anniversaries, Catholic Courier, PO Box 24379, Rochester, NY 14624-0379.

Please include the full names of husband and wife, the date and year of the wedding, and the church and town where married. Those submitting to the Courier also are invited to provide wedding photos (unscreened prints or digital images of at least 1 MB in size) for possible publication. The photo option is not available via the Marriage Recognition Mass registration form.

Due to the anticipated volume of submissions, the Courier will not be able to follow up on or publish submissions that do not include all requested details.

The deadline for submission to the Courier is April 30; submissions cannot be accepted after deadline.
