Rochester Diocese’s faithful receive ashes as Lent 2022 starts

On Ash Wednesday, March 2, parishes in the Diocese of Rochester returned to the traditional manner of distributing ashes during prayer services and Masses that marked the start of Lent. Students at Holy Cross School in the Charlotte section of Rochester gathered in the church for a prayer service and to receive ashes. Students at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford received ashes during Mass and prayer services at the college’s Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great. And parishioners of Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Elmira received ashes at St. Patrick Church.
