Sister Julie Vieira, IHM, a Rochester native who attended St. James Church and School, Irondequoit, celebrated her final vows with the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Hearts of Mary earlier this year.
The ceremony took place during a Feb. 18 Mass in the Motherhouse Chapel of the sisters in Monroe, Mich.
Sister Vieira, a 1990 graduate of Rochester’s Aquinas Institute, holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religion from St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto and a master’s degree in theology from Regis College, Toronto.
Sister Vieira works as a project coordinator with Loyola Press in Chicago. She previously taught religious studies at the University of Detroit Mercy and led workshops at Visitation Spirituality Center. She also writes for various Catholic periodicals.
