Rochester native marks anniversary

Rochester native Msgr. Joseph Aubin, a priest of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, N.Y., celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood in May.

Msgr. Aubin grew up in St. Boniface Parish and attended Aquinas Institute and St. Andrew’s Seminary, all in Rochester. After leaving Rochester, Msgr. Aubin studied philosophy at Wadhams Hall Seminary in Ogdensburg and theology at Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md. He was ordained in 1955.

Msgr. Aubin served at Tupper Lake, N.Y., for two years after his ordination and spent the next 48 years serving parishes in the Plattsburgh area. He established a Catholic Charities office in Plattsburgh in 1957 and served as its director for the next 13 years. Now retired, Msgr. Aubin lives at St. Peter’s Parish in Plattsburgh and assists at the 22 parishes in Clinton County.
