To the editor:
As a young man I remember my parents being staunch Democrats – after all Democrats stood for the "poor man." It made a lot of sense back then. After graduating from college I was a true indoctrinated liberal. However thereafter I began to experience the world and in a very short time realized the fallacy of the indoctrination I had received – much of it propagated by people who never really worked a day in their lives. As I matured in thought and experience I became a conservative.
What I find most interesting at this time of life however, is my discussions with people who claim to be Democrats. When I probe their value systems it usually becomes apparent that to a great extent it is conservative in nature. When I point this out to them and in an attempt to understand their thinking ask why they vote Democrat, they usually either become very flustered and stop talking or walk away. It truly makes little sense and they seem to realize it.
I do hope that recent occurrences with Mr. Obama’s forcing of abortion into our hospital systems reveals the intent of the Democratic Party to destroy Catholic values, to destroy family values and to ultimately destroy religion. Groups like Democrats for Atheism are having an increasing influence in our society.
