Run benefits St. Joseph School

To raise money for new technology for St. Joseph School, a McQuaid Jesuit junior has organized a "5K Run of Gratitude" and one-mile fun run and walk at 9:30 a.m. June 1, starting and ending at the school, 29 Gebhardt Road, Penfield.

Organizer Javier Perez, who runs cross country at McQuaid and who is a St. Joseph alumnus, organized the race for his Eagle Scout project. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 260, which meets at St. Joseph Parish.

Registration is $20 or $25 on the day of the event for the 5K, and $10 or $15 on the day of the event for the fun run and walk. Breakfast will be provided free after the event for all participants. Awards will be provided for the top three overall and the top three for each of 12 age groups. The race will start at St. Joseph Church, and race-day registration begins at 8 a.m.

The race is being presented in conjunction with the PACE Foundation (Parents for the Advancement of Catholic Education Foundation). For online registration, visit
