Sacred music concert to raise money for prayer center

A concert of sacred music this weekend will mark Mercy Prayer Center’s 35th anniversary as a ministry of the Sisters of Mercy.

The concert will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at Our Lady of Mercy Auditorium, 1437 Blossom Road in Brighton. The concert will feature internationally known soprano Laura Heimes Conners and tenor Kevin Conners, a native of East Rochester who performs with the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Germany. The concert also will feature the St. Charles Borromeo Sanctuary Choir, with Ralph Zecchino conducting. Music will include "Ave Maria," "Panis Angelicus," "Piu Jesu," "You Raise Me Up" and "Here I Am Lord," which will feature a video tribute to the Rochester Sisters of Mercy.

Tickets are $35 and up and will be available at the door. For details, call 585-473-6893 or 585-288-2710, ext. 252, or visit www.mercyprayercenter.org.
