Richard Gladwell, who hosted the Sunday choral- and organ-music program “With Heart and Voice” on WXXI’s Classical 91.5, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, following a battle with brain cancer.
Bishop Matthew H. Clark presented Gladwell with the prestigious Benemerenti Medal in March during a special concert in his honor at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The medal is one of the Vatican’s highest honors to the laity. Gladwell’s weekly radio program focused on sacred music and was broadcast on more than 100 radio stations nationwide.
“With Heart and Voice” will feature a tribute in Gladwell’s honor at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, on WXXI-FM 91.5, WXXY-FM 90.3, WXXI-HD 91.5-2 and at www.wxxi.org/listen.
