A few weeks ago, my husband, Joe, posed a question: If I had to do it all over again, would I still choose to marry him?
I couldn’t resist and responded with an emphatic no! He should’ve seen it coming, since we love nothing better than to pick on each other!
But in all seriousness, saying “I do” to Joe nearly 23 years ago was one of the best decisions of my life. God truly gave me a loving and supportive partner to accompany me through the ups and downs of life.
Each year, the Diocese of Rochester invites married couples to once again say “I do” during a special Wedding Jubilee Mass celebrated by Bishop Salvatore R. Matano at Sacred Heart Cathedral. This year’s liturgy is May 6.
I look forward to seeing the images our photographers capture each year at this event. My favorites are the ones in which long-married couples are holding hands and gazing lovingly at each other as they renew their marriage vows. I also enjoy reading the sage marriage advice they offer when being interviewed for stories our reporters write about the liturgy.
In addition to being honored during the Wedding Jubilee Mass, couples celebrating 25, 50 and 50-plus years of marriage will be honored in the pages of the Catholic Courier’s June edition. I invite you to visit www.CatholicCourier.com to find out how to submit your information for inclusion in this list. The deadline is May 14.
Happy anniversary to you all, and I wish you many more years of wedded bliss!
