Catholic Charities of Schuyler County observed National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 12-18) by paying tribute to its many volunteers.
"I would like to thank our incredible volunteers for giving so much of their time to make our community a better place for families, seniors and individuals," Deb MacDonald, agency director, said in a statement.
Volunteers were lauded for their support that includes staffing food pantries; donating and distributing furniture to those in need; and supporting and advocating for residents of long-term-care facilities.
Catholic Charities welcomes additional volunteers, pointing out that volunteering is a win-win: volunteers feel rewarded and have a sense of increased happiness, and their efforts make a difference in the lives of many others.
