Schuyler County cluster hosts several pro-life initiatives

Several Sanctity of Human Life activities took place during the month of January 2024 in the Schuyler Catholic Community cluster of St. Mary of the Lake Church, Watkins Glen; and St. Benedict, Odessa.

Parishioners prayed the 9 Days for Life Novena after 8 a.m. daily Mass at St. Mary from Jan. 16-24.

The Litany for Life prayer and Day 7 of the Novena from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops were led by Father Jeffrey Tunnicliff after 8 a.m. Mass on Monday, Jan. 22, the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.

St. Mary of the Lake had a table in the Chapel Link with articles, resources and information in support of the 9 Days for Life Novena from the USCCB.

St. Mary and St. Benedict each had a small bassinet set up in the entryway to collect donations of money and baby items for the Southern Tier Pregnancy Resource Center in Elmira. This is the annual January Celebrate Life Baby Shower hosted by the parishes for the local pregnancy care center.

This all reflects the St Mary and St Benedict parish communities’ commitment to Walking with Moms in Need, as requested by the USCCB and the Rochester Diocese’s support for life.
